World of Warcraft Classic: I am home

Hello everyone. It sure has been a while. How are you all doing? ๐Ÿ™‚

You have been so sweet and the messages from you, both on the blog and in my mail, nudged me to write an update today. Thank you.

Because yes. With World of Warcraft Classic, I am truly home.

To set foot on the grass of Teldrassil again…Was nothing short of amazing.

The launch of Classic was a night to remember. Itยดs hard to put into words, the level of “hype”, that went before it.

So many of us stayed up late, to log in at midnight to rush to secure our Guild name right away. Everyone made Night Elves, and started the grind for 10 silver to purchase the Guild Charter.

Our Guild Nighthaven is brought to life. And I am so grateful to everyone who made it come together. It is truly a unique and wonderful place to be.

We are having the best of times, playing in Classic.

What a community, what a game.

The slow pace, the old quests, the excitement over looting a bag! Seeing everyone buff each other. Old character models. Old spell effects. The music, the ambience, the water, the adventures.

I am level 16 now, and taking it slow. (Well, I havenยดt got much time to play, what else can I do, one might say :p )

We settled down on the PvE server Pyrewood Village.

Those names of the Classic Servers though…Not a fan! But oh, well. The queues in the beginning were several hours. But now I am able to log in straight away in the evening ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh, right, Alunariaยดs Avenue was meant to be about pictures more than text. Here we go!

The beginning. 00.01. So. Many. Nightelves.

My beloved Teldrassil.

Aaand we are up and running, as one of the very first Guilds on the server ๐Ÿ™‚

I find, that I am noticing so much more this time, compared to 14 years ago. The joy of returning must enhance my senses.

Getting lost in the very first cave I entered. Oh, yes. Now I remember ๐Ÿ˜‰

Visiting my Class Trainer. What a joy to do that again, instead of having my spells just magically appear on my action bar.

The old water effect. Gorgeous.

Doing Druid Class Quests. More joy. Joy, joy, joy!

Inventory management is real. People cannot spend precious bag slots on carrying around things to make their own campfire! So we camp (hah) near the NPC made ones, to level our cooking.

Rain over Auberdine.

Even something as simple as waiting for the boat turns into a social get together with strangers, with buff exhanges and advice. ๐Ÿ™‚

The long awaited run from Wetlands to Ironforge. The memories!

Look at that beautiful light reflecting in the snow.

I know that, the current version of World of Warcraft is so much prettier, in the eyes of many. But I just adore Classic. Look at the shadows of Northshire Abbey. Beautiful.

That was it, for now ๐Ÿ™‚

I wonder, if any of you are playing Classic, and having as wonderful a time as I do? I sure hope so.

And if not, I hope you are enjoying the current version of the game instead. And that the real world is treating you well!

I havenยดt been kept up to date with World of Warcraft outside of Classic, so thank you for making that easier for me too, with your devoted blog posts ๐Ÿ™‚

And thank you again to those who have been writing me, it means a lot to me to know, that you did not forget about the Avenue, despite my silence.

Take good care, and may today treat you with kindness ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. It is fantastic that you have ventured into classic and you seem to be having a blast. It seems a lot of people are on-board with the simpler times of Classic and the are plenty of people that are loving it including your good self. Not playing either Classic or BFA myself currently due to time constraints, however, love all the updates from people that are doing. So, keep having fun and I look forward to reading your future updates. Rx

    1. Thank you, Rob, it sure seems that way indeed, it is very popular, much to – it appears, Blizzardยดs own surprise!

Ah, I hear that, itยดs not easy to find time to play for me either, but a little here and there is better than nothing at least ๐Ÿ™‚

Good luck to you and thanks again!

  2. Damn, who’s been cutting onions in here? That post is so sweet and beautiful, and all the screenshots are gorgeous.

I’m also playing on Pyrewood Village! Horde though, but then again it’s a PvE server so we’re all friends here (more or less ๐Ÿ˜‰). For me it also feels great to be able to enjoy WoW again after having given up on it so many years ago.

Great to hear you’re having a great time and are back to radiating positivity!

    1. Aw, well thank you, Iยดm glad you enjoyed it ๐Ÿ™‚ Aha! We may come across each other in PvP some day then! Me too, itยดs so wonderful. Very happy to be back. Thanks!

  3. I was just thinking the other day that I ought to message you — I’d been wondering how you were faring in Classic. I’m so glad that it’s being such a wonderful experience for you!

I’m happy to have your writing and beautiful screenshots gracing my WordPress Reader feed again, too — I’ve missed you.

I have a few characters created in Classic, but I haven’t had any time to play in Classic. I don’t have a Night Elf in Classic at the moment, but you and Coffee Cakes & Crits are making me want one! I can’t decide whether she should be a Druid or a Priest, though — my very first Night Elf alt was a Druid, but I think that if I roll a Priest in Classic, I’ll want her to be a Night Elf.

I’ve barely even been playing in Battle for Azeroth for the past three or four weeks beyond making outfits and taking screenshots for new Sunday Mog Shows due to school-related stuff occupying most of my time and attention.

    1. Aw, that is sweet, Kam, thank you for thinking of me. Hehe, yes, I really do like the old models of Night Elves in Classic, without a doubt. I hope you will find time to enjoy it at one point ๐Ÿ™‚

Ah, Priests gets access to Starshards, a long lost spell. That alone makes me consider to roll one!

Shoot, alright, well I do hope your school related stuff will not continue to take up so much of your time, so you will be able to relax some in the future ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. As always, your screenshots are art! Love them!

Gives me incredibly fond memories to see as both of my first two characters were night elves, and I did the loop leveling them ๐Ÿ˜‰ I still haven’t made the jump to Classic as I don’t feel that draw, but completely happy for you that you have!!

    1. Thank you so much ๐Ÿ™‚ It is actually surprisingly tough to make Classic screenshots look good, I no longer have my camera addon, and well, the graphics are…Classic :p

Oh, I see, will you be making the jump, you think?

      Thanks again ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. I am glad to see you are enjoying it. Looms like you had a great launch and continued experience.

I never played vanilla but I got caught up in all the hype for classic. Made a gnome on launch day. And the starting zone was packed fullof gnomes and dwarves. We formed lines for quest objectives, grouped up desperately tryong to tag the early quest mobs and sometines just formed circles and danced.

It was quite a fun little adventure. I don’t think I’ll play classic as heavily but it will be a fun thing to level in and attend any rp events for me

    1. Hi Grimgrog. what a joy to hear from you again ๐Ÿ™‚ Thank you so much, I really have been enjoying myself a lot.

Hah, oh yes, I have seen screenshots of what you describe there, the lining up in a queue for Quest items. Good times ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh, you are actually RPing in Classic too?

      1. I play much more retail than I do classic. And I dont play that much at the moment. But I do have an rp character on classic. My intent is to have one to go to any events I can find. I love what players are able to accomplish with retail rp, so I’m excited to see what I find with classic

      2. Ah, alright, I see. I havenยดt been able to RP in Classic yet myself, so I hope to hear back from you about your experience ๐Ÿ™‚ Thank you for always taking the time to respond, Grimgrog, I greatly appreciate it. ๐Ÿ™‚
