This post contains screenshots of what is happening during and after War of Thorns: Chapter 2
…All my Characters are Night Elves. I levelled in Teldrassil more times, than I can count. Since 2005. I Roleplayed there for an entire year…
I feel like walking away from all of it. I cannot stress enough, how I do not mean this to come off as some kind of drama queen, waving the “omg, I unsub, Blizz!11!!”-flag. That is not the intention. I trust, that those that know me, knows and have faith in my nature.
I’m just…sad. Which outlet can I use. How do I describe it, without sounding as if I don’t know, this is just pixels, in a game.
I have no interest in playing. I’ve felt that way for a few weeks now, since this event started.
But today that feeling got way worse. I can’t put it into words. I tried.
Wisteria did an excellent job doing that for me here. I hate the way the story is being told right now. I had enough of war and hatred and meaningless slaughtering of innocents in real life.
But I know. This is World of WARcraft. But this…
There are many excellent posts on this subject. Mature, well gathered thoughts (Unlike the official forums and social media- I have heard).
To name a few other than Wisteria, Fiannor and Video Game Tourist. already have put together well written posts on the subject. I am really happy about our blogging community. I look forward to hear from the rest of you, and what thoughts you have to share.
In two years from now, I hope to see Teldrassil and Darnassus rebuilt. But will we be so lucky? Look at Loch Modan. Still not finished since Cataclysm’s destruction. What does the future hold? Will it all make sense years from now? Will I look back at this moment and think “If only I had known”?
…I have nothing left to say right now. A hug would be nice 😦
Press on, heroes. Attack for the goddess…
A big big hug ❤
Your images capture the whole thing just as it felt.
The Teldrassil music is what WoW is for me. I even levelled non-elves there.
Night elves have no city of their own now. Will they build one? I hope so. They can raise trees, but the lives lost cannot be restored.
As a side note, I hope Shandris Feathermoon will get a real big role in game. She is one tough lady. 🙂

♥ Just what I needed /hugs. Me too. The one time I tried another race, I ran to Teldrassil. I have no idea 😦
That would be really nice to see.

Marathal started as a Nightelf. I spent 90 levels as a Nightelf. I did not log into an Alliance character to boost and do what you saw. I am not happy about what they chose to do to push story content. I think the backlash is more than they thought it would be.
I’m sorry is not enough.

I understand. I would not have either. I would have a hard time playing Horde right now. Horde Druid? Gosh. No.
There is a big backlash from this?
Aw, it’s okay. There are no words. Thank you 🙂

Fiannor is a night elf, and my first WoW character. Though no longer my main, she is still my favorite, and The Burning was devastating. Especially because it was completely pointless. I would like to think Teldrassil will rise again, but the pessimist in me notes that Blizz rarely builds back that which they have destroyed. The Park in Stormwind was an exception, and they didn’t do that for many years after it was destroyed.
I think we all need a group hug!

Hey Fiannor, thank you for stopping by. I’m glad I am not alone in this; devastating is a good way to describe it.
I would like to think so too. A naive side of me believes, that we will see it rebuild before BfA ends. Or at least some kind of beginning on it. But I know; the pessimist in me thinks as the pessimist in yours. Look at Loch Modan. How long can it take? Why not add a few dailies (World Quest – ‘lolz’) where we all can chip in, gather wood, build the dam, build the tree, etc. So much cool gameplay just waiting to be implemented. It would make older zones come to life too.
An enormous group hug indeed /Hugs

Though the way the scene was handled was poor (writing) and it’s sad that Teldrassil is destroyed, I don’t think having it rebuilt is a good idea. At least not immediately. If things are reverted then these faction wars become meaningless. At least in my view :). But hey, we get to get some revenge next week!

I care little for revenge. It won’t bring Teldrassil back. And I hate Undercity, hah, it’s the one Horde town I find the most confusing.
But, I totally hear what you are saying; an instant rebuilt- have it all the exact same way wouldn’t make the most of sense, you are right. And it’s not like we have the ressources.
Perhaps a remake of it, so the Night Elves and Worgens still will have a home.

Yeah they should have a new home at some point. Maybe one of the trees in Duskwood? ;D

Yes, that, or I’d love it in the Hinterlands.

I haven’t done any reading about the new expansion, and I’ve only done the first part of this chain (Darkshore), so this came as a surprise. Your screenshots are amazing & heartwrenching.
Here’s a hug, too.

My goodness. I am deeply and genuinely sorry, that I ruined it for you. I should have added a spoiler tag. Or used a different Featured Image too, even. I apologize. I try to stay spoiler free myself, but this was highlighted during BlizzCon even, so I thought everyone knew. Again. I am sorry.
/Hugs. Thank you so much 🙂

Oh, no, no, you didn’t ruin anything for me. I’m sorry I wasn’t clearer. (If anyone ruined anything, it’s Blizzard…)

I hope this help a little: there is an NPC to bring back Terldrassil, i talked with her and i’m not going to talk with her again, i know this is another timeline, but i prefer to see the tree there.

Thank you. You are so sweet for letting me know. I know it sounds odd, but it really does not help at all. I still know what happened.
An old mill in a town nearby was burned down last year. By two teenage boys, who thought it would be fun. It’s being rebuild and that is good, but I will always know what happened. That kind of reckless behaviour is…I don’t know what to call it.
I will enable the travel back function, I did it last night too, but it was like the need to process all of this got placed in a bubble. I think I need to face it, to move on. And hah, gosh, I sound as if this is not just pixels we are talking about. Sorry about that. I’m not a crazy – living inside WoW – kind of person! 😛 Just super emotional about my Teldrassil.
Thank you 🙂

Okay, so another day has begun. It has not helped. Where does one go from here?
A few things bother me deeply.
When we travel to Stormwind and speak with Anduin, he just SITS there. On the throne. Stand up and ACT!
Malfurion is suddenly back to full health in the room next to Anduin. ?! If it was that easy to heal him, why did they just flee!?
Tyrande is with him. You would THINK, they have a word or two to share with us?! But nothing! You’d think they at least would want to know of their Priestesses. Darnassus. Teldrassil. You’d think they at least show some kind of emotions.
What of all the NPCs of Darnassus? What of my Mathrengyl Bearwalker? I saved him as the very first one. What about the rest? How can I find out?
Grimmtooth over at Not All Hunters (https://notallhunters.wordpress.com/2018/08/01/so-about-that-thing/) wrote, that the Kaldorei and Gilneans are camped out in Stormwind Harbor, and I must see that as soon as I get home tonight. I have not checked yesterday, I admit.
As soon as I arrived in Stormwind, the first thing I did was HS back to Darnassus (Yes my Hearthstone is set to Darnassus, it has been since as long as I can remember) to check, what all of this means. I tried the Bronze Dragonflight different timeline version, but it just didn’t help.
What of Darkshore? I know the different timeline option shows us Teldrassil as it was, but Darkshore is still changed, a level 110 area with World Quests and a missing Hippogryph Master etc.
I imagine the time gating of this event probably will “solve” a lot and help it move forward. I hope.

I also noted Malfurion seemed very ok. Very sloppy storytelling by Blizzard. Somehow in the same vein as all the patch bugs. They may have announced the expansion date too early.
I guess many elves are not that super-happy about Tyrande and Mal now?
Anduin is an emo kid! 😉
Or maybe he is just as stunned and sorrow-filled like most?

Yeah. I guess it’s a tad difficult to script multiple versions of them in Stormwind, with all the phasing? I’m not sure.
I try to think of it that way, yes.

Also. Hm. How can Captain Delaryn Summermoon give me quests in Darkshore after this?

Because I think Blizzard has rushed things a bit.

This weeks chapter was pretty bad. I was hoping that someone else within the Horde, Alliance or some other faction in disguise would burn the tree. Having Sylvanas do it made no sense as she’d already won. It also goes against her character as she isn’t irrational like it’s portrayed in the scene.
Now we’re left with Garrosh 2.0. There’s no grey area here, she’s evil and because of that, Horde are evil and Alliance good. Which again, doesn’t make sense. Unless there are old god influences, I can’t see the point of this. /rant over ;D
Nevertheless, the cinematic visuals and sound are fantastic.

Me too. Exactly that. I have stayed spoiler free all these months because I really thought there would be some kind of twist about the whole thing. Maybe further down the line. These time gated quests…
Yes, it does not make sense at all. I read that Sylvanas is resistant when it comes to Old God Influence.
I agree, that kind of cinematic grows on me. That moment when Sylvanas turns Summermoon to face the burning of Teldrassil. It haunts me. Captivating. Sad.

There’s some text from the novella that explains her reasoning. It should have been in-game, but it does explain it 🙂

Oh, yes I read a little about that yesterday, thank you. It was because Saurfang did not kill Malfurion yes, or? So she needed another way to break the spirit, hope and morale of the Alliance?
Still. You would think, that there would be at least a little interaction between Sylvanas and Saurfang then! Going against her will like that…Oh, well. Maybe in time 🙂

Yeah it helps a bit 🙂 I just think the game didn’t portray it well. The new Saurfang cinematic dives into Saurfang’s character development as well. And probably the best cinematic Blizzard have done

Sad to see it happen. And your pictures do good at portraying your emotion of it. The naive part of me hopes your wish is dine and they give the elves a home. But the pessimistic part of me knows they wont for a long time. Look at my good old favorites, the Gnomes for an example 😭

Me too 😦
Thank you so much, I tried to captivate exactly how I felt.
Oh, I know about the Gnomes indeed 😦 I do not get why that has not happened yet. Blizzard have the tools to make it so.
But an entire Alliance city, just gone. I can’t…
Sad 😦

/bearhug from a fellow druid! 😥 The events witnessed were indeed hard but I feel the story is just begun. Blizzard even just today released another piece, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aW_h0qf9vpA , that adds just that interactin between Sarufang and Sylvanas.
Don’t lose hope Allunaria. ❤

I know I’m a little late to the party, however, I will have to say that your pictures were awesome and did show the emotional side of the event quite well. It still is all very haunting and hard to handle at times – I, too, have turned the clock back – must have my Tree where it belongs.

You are never too late to the party here at the Avenue 🙂
Thank you so much, I spend so long to get them “right”. I think so too. I must admit, I have not turned back the clock, because it seems wrong- I cannot deny that it happened; it’s part of the history and in RP, the events took place 😦 But I agree, that the function to do so is nice, for sure 🙂
