A Death Knight called Laney – told in pictures

One of my many ways to procrastinate at the end of Legion is drifting around on various attempts to make a new character and see what it’s all about.

Laney the Death Knight is one of the results.

I’ve never done the Death Knight intro story (I know…), but I just finished it, and the end somehow inspired me to do this piece.

Without much text, I wanted to tell it all in pictures.

  1. Nice. I like the shot with the close-up of Laney in the bottom left with the camera pointing at the cathedral roof. I’ve gone through the DK starting area, but as soon as I was set loose I lost interest. The idea of being a disease and misery-bearing zombie didn’t appeal to me, especially after playing druid for so long.

    1. Thanks a lot πŸ™‚ Yeah, I hear you; I felt the same way. When I did the quest that involves slaughtering humans that did not fight back at all but just begged for mercy, it just felt so wrong to me. Once a Druid, always a Druid πŸ™‚

  2. That is one awesome looking Death Knight. Great pictures, I don’t know how you manage to capture expressions so well. It makes for a great visual story.
I love DKs but really dislike the starter area, all of that cruelty, and I’m always determined to be as good and heroic with my characters as they can be in order to counteract time spent there. I’m was really disappointed to have the Lich King be head of the Legion Order Hall now I finally got her there. Agh, that grindy voice.

    1. Thank you so much, I liked how they turned out too, particular the hair colour and markings of Death Knights πŸ™‚ But maybe it’s just because, I’m not used to screenshotting that much, heh.

I agree, it was very cruel – it’s not appealing to me either.

Oh, I didn’t know of that in their Legion Order Hall.

I’m with you there – I’ll always play a Druid. But seeing pieces of lore around the game through the eyes of another class is nice πŸ™‚

I really wish there was some kind of spectator/audience mode, where one could see all the Class Hall quests for the other classes. Youtube isn’t the same, I want to see it in game. So much lore untold to me!

  3. The Death night had a poured into their starter story and for me still stands out as the best intro for a specific class. In time if you get her up to Legion content you will get the chance to see the Orderhall story which arguably is one of the best in Legion.

I of course will not spoil it at all but I will say it really made me question a lot about my character and her place in WoW lore. Hopefully one day you do get there and we see a story about that where I will definately chime in on the conversation! πŸ™‚

    1. Wow, one of the best? I’ll look forward to that. I have been wondering, if I should spend my boost on Laney πŸ™‚

I wonder, with those boosts, if one misses out on the quests? I’ll look forward to that πŸ™‚

  4. I have several DKs and I can tell you that I am not very good at playing them, however, I enjoy their quests. The starting area is pretty devastating and the cruelty is almost over the top. I still play them occasionally and enjoy them all – heck, I have too many characters. πŸ˜€

    1. Aw, shoot, I was hoping to get a few tips, like, Death Knights for dummies, so I can do the Class Hall campaign without too much trouble! πŸ˜‰

Yeah, over the top, I agree. I really felt awful murdering NPCs that did not fight back but just asked for mercy.
