Midsummer Fire Festival, how I love this holiday!
But Torch Tossing, how I hated that quest yesterday!
Turns out, it was bugged, but I did not know that, I thought my latency was playing a role, all of a sudden, or that my reflexes has gotten old.
Let me tell you a little story…(If you attempted this quest too, you’ll know what it’s about…!)
“Poor Alunaria. She tried everything…
“Simply hit 8 braziers”, the human instructed her, while handling over the torches.
But nothing worked. Nothing. She tried, and she tried. Then she tried some more.
She waited. She stood in multiple locations. She jumped up and down. She used macros. She used hotkeys…But, nothing worked.
So. After many, many tries, she lost it.
“Forget it!”, she said. And before a guard could interfere, she brought out her water gun!
“If I cannot toss at you, no one can!”, she yelled at the brazier, before going mental.
…Then she suddenly stopped. And thought to herself…
“Hey…YOU are the one who’s making me do this!”, she yelled at the poor man.
Fearing for his own safety, he began to shout. “Guards! Seize her, now!”
…But it was too late for him.
The enraged kaldorei continued her water-mayhem and before the poor human knew it, a huge splash of water hit him, and his torches, leaving everything soaking wet.
Alunaria quickly dashed off, reminding herself why she was there, and made another attempt to hit the brazier and get credit. She has always been too stubborn for her own good, that poor girl. Even though it sure helps her on numerous occasions, this was not one of those occasions…
Bubbles vs. fire? I’m not sure what she was thinking…She must have been desperate.
Just when the crowd thought they had seen it all, her insanity reached another level…
A fish was spotted, flying through the air!
The poor fish being kicked around alerted multiple guards. (The fish did not give credit towards the quest, by the way. Just a headsup…)
A guard arrived at the scene, but baffled by what he saw, finding it hard to believe, and despite his training and strength, he could not take on Alunaria on his own. Her insanity simply fueled her.
The sight of the guard only made her more furious. So desperate to get the quest done, so misunderstood.
“Why won’t it get completed!?” she yelled out “I hit them all, all the braziers! I did. WITHIN THE TIMER! Why are you doing this to me!”
Suddenly magic similar to the dangerous arcane starting flying around. In the hands of a Druid! Imagine the damage it could unleash, so uncontrolled, so chaotic.
Now the backup finally arrived, and in danger to herself and everyone around her, the unfortunate kaldorei was put in a straitjacket and medicine was quickly injected, as the guards saw no other way out of this chaos, she created.
…Hours passed. When she finally woke, her sanity seemed intact. She was put through an examination, just to be sure. “She checks out!”, they confirmed, fortunately.
She apologized and apologized. “I don’t know what has gotten into me…” she said.
The guard showed her mercy. “Don’t worry about it, lass! Ye’ not the first one today! We don’t know what has gotten into people!”
She cried in relief…
…and thanked him deeply for the empathy they had shown her.
“Go sit over there!”, he adviced her. And so she did. Then she took a deep breath and walked away…
Her hand hovered over the “Abandon Quest” icon, trembling at the thought. She closed her eyes, and when she opened them, the quest was gone. No longer was the “Failed” sign right there to enrage her once more. She freed herself…
When she walked away, she thought to herself. “I am done with fire! At least for today!”.
And then she thought of the one thing, that always cheers her up…
Happy Orca is happy. Just as she deserves.
…It was not her fault. Something else was to blame. Something that caused the citizens and visitors of Ironforge to lose their sanity in ways, that Azeroth has never seen.
What was it, you ask? That is yet to be investigated…
And so ends the tale of Alunaria vs. the Quest Torch Tossing.
No animals, humans or dwarves were hurt in the process of these screenshots.
Any contributions will be donated towards making sure, that these events never repeat themselves, and will help the guards of Ironforge in their investigation towards discovering, what really caused the mayhem in every major city on this gloomy night.
(The quest got fixed today, just a headsup! :p)
Happy night everyone 🙂
